Why India vs Sri Lanka Is Important Today
India entered the Asian Games men's cricket competition as the defending champion.
However, the knockout stage has been unusual because persistent rain prevented the men's quarterfinal matches from being completed. India were scheduled to face Afghanistan, while Sri Lanka were due to play Nepal.
Neither quarterfinal produced a result, and the higher-ranked teams advanced according to the tournament's rules. Sri Lanka and India therefore moved into the semifinal without completing their scheduled quarterfinal matches.
That makes the India-Sri Lanka semifinal the first completed men's knockout match for both teams at this Asian Games.

Reports ahead of the semifinal indicated that conditions had improved, although the ground remained an important consideration after the earlier rain.
Fans should therefore follow official updates on match day.
What Happens If India vs Sri Lanka Is Abandoned?
